Youth and adult members of the 1st Mosman 1908 Scout Group attended both the Mosman ANZAC Sunday Ceremony and the ANZAC Day Dawn Service as an act of remembrance in their 100th year. The two events are arranged by the Mosman Returned Servicemans Club.
1st Mosman 1908 were asked to assist with the Sunday Service on 20th April in their role as Mayor’s Own Troop during this centenary year. Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts distributed orders of service and sprigs of rosemary to the attendees before participant in the ceremony.
The youth members joined the march to the RS Club.
After the ceremony, the Scouts spent time talking with Veterans and other members of the community at the Mosman RS Club. They asked questions towards their “Their Service – Our Heritage” badge, a special interest badge to encourage the youth members to find out more about the ANZAC spirit. The welcome received from the people at the reception was heart-warming and inspiring.
On Friday 25th April, the youth members were proud to attend the dawn service at Georges Heights. With a good view from in front of the crowds, a strong number of Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts listened with interest to the service and ceremony.
After the service, they spoke with veterans and currently serving members of the armed forces about what ANZAC meant to them.
The weather at both events threatened rain but stayed dry for the duration of the service.
