Isn't Scouting just for boys?

Not since 1986. Scouting has been open to girls in all Sections for 20 years. Guiding is still strong in Mosman, offering a different program on the same principals exclusively to girls, but Scouting is open to everyone.


What is the difference between Sea Scouts and other Scouts?

Sea Scouts wear the same uniform and follow the same basic program as Land Scouts. However, they traditionally offer more opportunities in water activities and often own a boat shed and a fleet of water craft. In Mosman, 1st Balmoral, 1st Clifton Gardens and 3rd Mosman Bay all own a boat shed and are Sea Scouts. 1st Mosman 1908 is the only Land Scout Group, but they also own water craft and offer many opportunities to try water activities, particularly canoeing.


I want to join, which Group should I choose?

Firstly, what age are you? You need to work out which Section you would be best suited to, then contact the group you are interested in via the links on the home page:
If you are under 6, we don't have a Section for you, but will happily add your name to our Joey Waiting List. Click here.
If you are under 7½ then Joey Scouting is for you. There is only one Joey Mob in Mosman at 1st Mosman 1908. Click here.
If you are between 7½ and 10, then you will find Cub Scouting full of fun and adventure. All Groups have Cub Scout Packs.
For the 10 to 14 year olds, the Scout Section is the the place for you. All Groups have Scout Troops.
Over 14? Yes, Scouting is available for you in our Venturer Units and then the Mosman Rover Crew. Venturers meet on Thursday. Click here.
