Weekly MeetingsGroup fees cover up to 40 weeks of activity during school terms, organized and led by volunteer Scout Leaders. Weekly activities vary by age and can include work toward the Scout Award scheme badges, craft, community service, canoeing, hiking, outdoor games, camp organisation and much more. The emphasis is on fun, teamwork, peer-to-peer leadership and developing personal abilities through physically and mentally challenging outdoor activities. Members may choose to pursue individual interests, as they work toward completing different level badges. Attendance at weekly meetings is not compulsory, although all Scouts and families enjoy the maximum benefits of Scouting by being active and participating in the group. Weekend activitiesFrom time to time additional weekend activities are organized by each Section. These might include: · Sleepovers at unique locations. For example, on board the historic ship the James Craig · Outings such as last years walk over the Harbour Bridge with Scout families · Regattas including Sirius Cup, where more than 400 Scouts spend the weekend camping on Balmoral Oval and challenging each other in canoeing, rowing, sailing and other water based events · Hikes, like the Scouts Harbourside Hikeathon which 1st Mosman 1908 organises in November each year. Scouts hike from Manly via the Spit to Mosman Bay in a day, to enjoy our wonderful Sydney Harbour National Park and raise money for the group. Cubs and Joeys join in and hike a shorter course. · And of course, CAMPS. These are a highlight of the Scouting year and bring together all the skills Scouts have acquired through their time with the group. Scouts gather with members from other groups and challenge themselves with a great range of activities - carrying their own packs and generally being self sufficient. They always return home tired, but deeply satisfied! A fee may be charged to cover costs (like food and transport) associated with these activities. Attendance at additional activities is not compulsory. Fees for 2008 have been set as follows
